Roslyn Ann Duffy's work and how it began:
In 1978, with my husband Vincent and friend Laurie Wick, I started
the Learning Tree Montessori Childcare, among the first American
all-day Montessori programs. For 17 years I co- directed the school,
trained teachers, taught parenting classes, and became a public
speaker while raising our own four children.
In 1995 I left the Learning Tree to establish the Better
Living Institute and open my counseling practice, as the first
of my books (Positive Discipline for Preschoolers, co-authored
with Jane Nelsen and Cheryl Erwin) came out.
In 1996 I began writing the column, From a Parent's Perspective
for Child Care Information
magazine.
In 1999 my work gained international scope through the World
Forum on Early care and Education, where those concerned
with the needs of young children and families worldwide gather annually.
This work grew to include presentations in Singapore, Athens and
New Zealand, and a newly inaugurated training exchange with Professor
Lily Wong of Singapore.
Our own family's experiences with A.D.D., (attention deficit disorder),
sent my path in an additional direction, leading to an upcoming
book on the topic. *
As my knowledge of common and divergent needs of families has grown,
so has my commitment to helping others. To that commitment I dedicate
this web site.
*A book on ADD, two parenting books and children's texts are all
works in progress. As they become available the information will
appear on this web site.

"Children are forced to live very
rapidly in order to live at all. They are given only a
few years in which to learn hundreds of thousands of things
about life and the planet and themselves."
